Layers from .psd?

What happens if you import a multilayer photoshop file (as in .psd) into Lightroom? How does Lightroom know which layer to apply your changes to? Does Lightroom flatten multi-layer .psd files when you apply adjustments and export from Lightroom?
Layers from .psd?
Lightroom cannot deal with layered files. You have to same the image in 'maximum compatibility' mode so that a flattened version is included.
Layers from .psd?
LR will flatten the image for you on import, so adjustments apply to that, and any export will also be flat, resulting in a new image.

Lightroom can't handle layered files unless you saved them with maximum

compatibilty turned on. It then saves the PSD file with a flatted version of

the image (your layers are still there). Lightroom will then apply any

changes you make to the flatted image. LR will not flatten an image for you

however. You have to save with the maximum compatibility option in

Photoshop.

Thanks guys. This is what I suspected.

OK I've switched maximise backwards compatability on for PSD files in the PS file handing menu for the future. I now want to resave all my previous PSDs with maximised compatability - I just dont want to do it one file at a time :(

I can use a search in Bridge to find all my *.psd files, I can write an action to open, save as and close each one and then batch process all the files specifying a separate new folder as the destination folder, creating copies of each file.

Or I can select each folder individually, find the *.psd files in that folder and then use the action on that folder, specifiying the same folder as the destination folder, which then overwrites the original file. But I would still have a lot of folders to go through

So what I want to do is have a way that works on the whole of my library at once and resaves each file in the original location overwriting the original file :)

Anyone any ideas
