Metadata presets, deleting erroneous...

Metadata Preset list contains five metadata file-names I created... three of those are in error. How does one delete these list-names? I've right-clicked, left-clicked, file-searched, etc... and continue to draw a blank.

Thank you

Must be done manually. If you're on Windows, go to:

Documents and Settings/YourName/Adobe/Lightroom...

-there you'll find your presets, which can be renamed/deleted/edited.

Bogdan, I appreciate your input.

Here's what I continue to find with Windows' Vista Ultimate:

under (username)-Pictures-Lightroom exists two folders plus one I've found before named ''Lightroom Database'' (about 43KB). It is not a ''Folder,'' but carries the ''LR'' designation. Clicking on the file simply opens Lightroom where I was last working. But there is no way to get into that Lightroom Database file, nor any listing of previously created metafile listed names.

While Lightroom Database is highlighted, under ''Properties'' the Attributes ''Read only'' and ''Hidden'' are unmarked.

I remain totally baffled. While in Lightroom and working with an image I can create a NEW ''Save as New Preset'' Metadata profile/name... but I can't delete any of the five I previously created.

Yes, from Lightroom, you can't delete presets you've made. I hope that will change in future (plus some other configurable stuff) -because not everybody is familiar with OS's folder structure.

As I'm on XP, only I can tell is: you should find ''Application Data'' folder mentioned above (or in similar subfolder structure). There you'll find further subfolders (Develop presets, Export presets,.. and Metadata presets folder).

Bogdan

You can go to the Folder by Right/Ctl-Clicking on a Dev Preset and doing 'Show in Finder.' This take you to User/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Lightroom/Develop Presets on a Mac.

I'm on a Mac now, But I used to do Windows support.

You may need to get into Explorer preferenced and click on appropriate buttons to get explorer to show you all files and directories. The defaults may be to hide them.

The folder location on Vista is:

C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom\

Inside this folder are all the settings folders, such as Metadata Presets, etc.

You may need to allow showing of hidden folders to see the AppData folder. To do this, while browsing your hard disk, click on the Organize menu, then click on Folder and Search Options, click the View tab, then select the ''Show hidden files and folders'' option.

Jonathan

Jonathan... you're a genius! Absolutely buried in sub, sub, sub menus.

Much of the problem happened (erroneous metadata file names) when first starting with LightRoom and then diving into Metadata, Keywords, etc. A jungle of confusion, of trying to decide what goes where, word choice, when to fill out a blank space... and when to leave it blank for later use, etc.
