I apologize in advance for the OT message. Hopefully others can benefit from any opinions offered.
I'm in the market for a new printer. Torn between the Epson R1800 and the Canon Pro9000. I've owned an R1800 and know how good it is, but I would like to hear from some Pro9000 owners on how they like their printers. I'd like to make the switch to Canon printers, but never having owned one do not know how they compare to the quality of the R1800 (which is pretty nice).
I'm mostly concerned with picture quality over anything else. I don't do much B/W and mainly do wildlife and landscapes.
Thanks for anything you may have to offer to help my decision easier.
OT: Canon Pro9000
Have you seen these reviews?

OT: Canon Pro9000
I hadn't seen those yet, thanks! I'm surprised I haven't been able to find any in-depth comparison reviews, since these 2 printers are in direct competition.
I would still like to hear some ''real world use'' opinions from Canon Pro9000 owners.
Off to read those reviews... thank you WPWoodJr.
Edit: After reading those 2 reviews, the Epson definately has the edge. I think the following quote from the Epson review sums up my dilemma quite nicely.
%26gt;After fourteen days of testing every aspect on the R1800 I am in a dilemma. I have compared the prints to those made on Canon, HP, other Epson printers and traditional photographic prints. The thing that strikes me is just how good all the printers are. Canon printers produce bold sharp pictures, HP printers produce vibrant colours, Epson dye based printers produce lively colours and Epson pigment printers produce subtle shades. Choosing which is the best printer is like asking a mother to choose her favourite child. Each printer has its own good points and depending on your style of photography, you make your choice.
I have a canon pro 9000. It is great for color. I find it extremely accurate and colors are vibrant and true. It is also easy to use.
I always use canon paper (its expensive), but I find that the profiles provided by Canon work very well with my color management.
Highly recommended. Andy
I ended up reading so many reviews and finally decided on the HP B9180. I swore I'd never own another HP printer, but for $4 more than the R1800 and $34 more than the Canon, I had to go for it.
Thanks to everyone for their input.
Interesting, torn between an Epson and a Canon and went with the HP. I guess that is one way to break a tie ;-)
At least you got responses. My inquiry on mid range printers got no responses. The Photo-i reviews tipped me to the Canon iP6700D.
Thanks for posting the OT message. Helped me out.
Yes, my logic is un-wavering. ;)
It was the Photo-i reviews that helped me decide also.
Why do not you go for I9900. I have it and love the print out of it. it is has red and green ink
The I9900 looks like a great printer. Thanks for throwing it into the mix for others who may stumble across this thread.
