Renaming files

I had to rename some files after a few were missed. LR has added a -2 to the end of the numbering

sequence. It doesn't appear to be duplicating the images. Does anyone know why this might be

happening and how to prevent it?

I was wrong the F2 rename created jpgs in the folder. Why would this happen on a rename?
