are the adjustments compatible between...

Hi there,

I couldnt find information yet so I post my question here.

Does anbody know, if the final version of LR will be fully compatible with Photoshop CS2, ACR 3.6 or Photoshop CS3, 4.0 Adobe Camera Raw?

I would like to keep all my adjustments stored in the DNG sidecar files made by any Adobe RAW converter (LR1 or ACR) + updated previews synchronized.

Until now in the beta versions they arent.

Sort of a long story and I'm not sure how much I can tell you. But I will tell you that, when LR 1.0 is released there will also be a version of ACR that will render images processed with LR 1.0 and encoded with XMP data (embedded or sidecars) the same as LR 1.0 does.

They both share the same imaging piipeline.

Okay, I've seen posts from Tom Hogarty and Thomas Knoll that lead me to believe that not much is secret here.

ACR 3.7 will be released along with LR 1.0 and will support all the LR 1.0 processing features. When ACR 4.0 comes out with CS3 later this spring, there will likely be an LR 1.x release to synchronize it with ACR 4.0.

And ACR 4.0 will also do TIFFs and JPEGs like LR!

I hope it isn't called that! It would be better to update the version, eg. to ACR 4.1, just to avoid confusion after months with something called ACR 4.0.

Barry, I think the thinking is that 3.7 works with CS2 not CS3 which of course is only a beta.

I know. I was just making a point about avoiding future confusion. (I remember that CS2 shipped with ACR 3.0, but there was simultaneously an upgrade to ACR 3.1. We'll see).

Yeah, but that is ACR4.0 Beta! like PSCS3 Beta.

Indeed, but ACR has a version numbering scheme that makes this sort of distinction very easy. CS3 will be still be ''CS3'' for years. The ACR released with CS3 will be superceded by one with a new number within months.

I won't pursue this - I've made the point that it would reduce confusion, but the rest is up to Adobe.

hi, i think you misunderstood me. maybe i made something wrong. i tested it again made adjustments in ACR 4.0 like contrast etc. wont stay the same in LR (beta). its just possibe to see the embedded previews, but it renders the raw again in its own way.

From Adobe庐 Photoshop Lightroom 1.0 Q%26amp;A (http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshoplightroom/)-

Q. Will my raw images look the same in Adobe Camera Raw and Photoshop Lightroom?

A. Yes. Photoshop Lightroom leverages the same, core Adobe Camera Raw technology used in Photoshop CS2. This means that not only will raw images look the same in either application, but also that changes you make in Photoshop Lightroom will appear automatically in Camera Raw, and vice versa. To complete this interactivity, Photoshop CS2 users will need to be sure the integrated Adobe Camera Raw component is updated to version 3.7, and both Camera Raw and Lightroom changes need to be written to XMP metadata in order for each software to recognize the others edits. This functionality is set in the preferences in each product.
