Anyone find it strange how close the Lightroom product looks to ArcSoft PhotoStudio Darkroom 1.5?
Not that I find the Arcsoft product to be as slick or as good, but maybe it was the parent from which Lightroom sprang.
Does Adobe own Arcsoft?

Well...I gotta agree with ya on that one. Not sure which one saw the light of day first though. And I do not mean a V1 that shipped to customers, but the first one to be seen by alpha testers....
I like the looks of their Lens correction dialog and their batch export looks interesting.
Not too shabby looking for the $99 price tag. Who knows how polished it is or about it's out put though...
But for the casual shooter or Mom/Pop/ Uncle Bob who wants a good work flow and is converting to shooting Raw it may be a good alternative.
Also, look at the spec list: (this is only partial to high lite some good stuff)
*Non-destructive edits on Raw/Jpg/ and Tif
*Spot and Patch Removal (ie clone/heal perhaps)
*Recipies, and copy to these to other photos
*Convert to DNG
Not to mention their base system requirments:
512 Meg of Ram
Pentium III or AMD Athlon
50 meg of HD
interesting

From their web site: ''Founded in 1994, ArcSoft is a leading provider of innovative digital imaging technologies and multimedia solutions for device manufacturers.''
Well...considering that Lightroom (aka Shadowland) started Dec, 2002 (in my studio) I seriously doubt Adobe stole anything from ArcSoft...

I have no need for Darkroom - I've seen the Light!
