should a kodak grey card read 50% in...

Hi, sorry if this seems a silly question but should a correctly exposed kodak grey card read 50% when measured with the eyedropper in lightroom.

I ask because I am sure I have read somewhere that it should not and of course I cannot remember where!

thanks,

Richard

Isn't a Kodak grey card 18% gray?

Andreas:

I think it's actually 18% reflectance.

You are so right. It's 18% reflectance. I have googled for a while and I couldn't find a common answer. The best guess I have found is a rgb value of 117,117,177.

That gives me a value of 45,9%, 45,9%, 45,9% in LR.

Hi thanks for your responses. I was confusing myself with the idea that it was mid grey and taking mid to be in the middle!

Your help greatly appreciated.

thanks,

Richard
