I have to go into EOS Viewer Utility to copy my photos over to the hard disk.
System: Vista Ultimate, Canon 20d connected via the USB cable.
Seems like this is a pretty basic function that they would have tested. Is it just a bug? I'm considering buying Lightroom but a bug this obvious is a pretty big drawback.
Import doesn't work from Canon 20d
Lightroom isn't presently supported under Vista and there are some known issues. I don't know if this is one of them. Vista support is likely to be added in the relatively near future.

Importing directly from Canon is a known issue. However, a flash card reader is pretty useful, esp. the hi speed ones.

I have no difficulties when I import with a card reader. Another solution is to transfer directly from the camera using the Canon application and then do an import from the folder where the image files are located.
Any news on the resolution of this known bug? - although the card reader is a good workaround i guess
Patrick and Kerry,
Some call it a workaround and some call it the fast way to import. The card reader is two times a fast as direct camera hook up.

I too find the Card Reader much faster than Camera Hook-up and doesn't wastethe Camera Battery or entail getting out the AC adapter for the camera. ANd you can keep on shooting.

Yep, thanks for the prompt reply - indeed not having the camera chained to the computer for transfer is an undeniable advantage.
