File/Folder Management

Once photos are imported into a file from the camera, what is the procedure for moving the file to a different folder? Can this be done within LR? I'm still trying to devise my folder structure/heirarcy and want to move a lot of the files into different folders, with LR keeping track of what I've done. I assume if I do this in the ''Finder'' (Mac) LR will lose track of where things are.

Actually, your assumption may be wrong! I was flabbergasted when I tried to hide a folder from LR, and I'll be darned if it didn't keep track.
%26lt;br /%26gt;
%26lt;br /%26gt;However, I feel safer doing my folder management from within LR itself for the most part. To move an image or group of them, be sure to drag from the center, not a border.

If you move on your system drive, LR will keep track. On an external drive LR loses track.

You can of course move stuff around the folders Pane in LR and they will move on the drive.

John,

I noticed that you use
PrintRoom to sell your images. I wonder if I might ask how this works out for you?

It looks similar to Pictopia only more reasonably priced. It also looks like you can offer your images as downloads. I can't tell if you can offer high res files for downloads as stock though or just web files and screen savers. If you can offer them as stock, I assume you can assign your own price for the stock versions.

Linda-
%26lt;br /%26gt;
%26lt;br /%26gt;It's all right to excellent- I have a good rep. there, which is always helpful. If you sign up, I'd be happy to share him.
%26lt;br /%26gt;
%26lt;br /%26gt;I don't offer any downloads, but I believe everything has to be via JPEG.

John,

Your rep's name would be good. At this point I'm looking at options for a client who needs to upload his own stock samples. I'm going to be sending him an email with several options and will include PrintRoom's link. If you like I can include your Gallery link which seems to have your email, along with a brief explanation.

Thank you for the feedback!

Linda

O.K. - anything further on this, please contact me offline. (you have e-mail from PR.)

Thanks John. Will do.
